Disclaimer: This position is expected to start around May or June 2022 and continue through the entire Summer term (i.e. through August/September) or into early Fall 2022 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time, for most internships. Please consider before submitting an application.
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week. Many students will be limited to part-time depending on their academic standing.

About the team
The Contract Analyst Intern will join the Contracts Management and Service Planning team, which has overall responsibility for negotiating and managing Energy Service Contracts, and guiding service teams in planning to meet these obligations.
The intern will work closely with direct team members and with Service Account Manager to identify and support the operational and contractual obligations embedded in long term service agreements. They will review contracts to identify standard and non-standard obligations and ensure that the obligations are cataloged, organized, and visible. The Analyst will also help identify inefficiencies in current processes and procedures, implement improvements, and support all faces of contract analytics and management on an ongoing basis.
The Analyst will work cross-functionally with multiple internal teams, such as Sales, Legal, System Performance, Account Management, and Financial Operations. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Thoroughly read through energy contracts, and capture contractual obligations in internal database to understand Tesla’s responsibility and ensure contractual compliance
- Document customer issues and support Service Account Managers in understanding how to apply contractual terms to the issue in question
- Manage contract amendment process for new and existing projects
- Perform analysis of contract documents per internal requests
- Conduct regular reviews to ensure that contract information is accurate and complete
- Validate data to allow consistency among internal platforms
- Support other teams including accounting, finance, fleet health, and others to plan and prepare for upcoming contract obligations prior to initiation of contract term
- Support and contribute to ongoing process improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in relevant fields such as Law, PreLaw, Economics, Business Administration, similar field(s) of study, or equivalent practical knowledge
- General knowledge of renewable energy (operations of renewable energy systems is strongly considered)
- Experience with legal contract review and ability to interpret contractual language
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Experience in understanding and interpreting qualitative data and data entry
- Knowledge of SQL or MS SQL strongly preferred
- Ability to learn new software/tools with minimal supervision
- Detail-oriented, resourceful, and able to adapt to shifting priorities
- Fearless when it comes to reaching out to individuals and teams across Tesla to obtain information, gain technical knowledge, understand business financial operations, implement important processes, and other work needed to meet the goals of your role
