Jr. Federal Solutions Manager
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
As Land Mobile technology increases in complexity, our customers demand higher levels of technical support and customer service. To meet and exceed those expectations, a new level of Technical sales and support is required. The Federal Solutions Manager will provide an exceptionally high level of support in both sales and technical guidance to their customers.
The Jr. Federal Solutions (JFS) Manager is an experienced professional who not only understands the products but also understands the Federal customers, the environments in which they operate and are selling into. The JFS Manager is a member of the Federal Sales Team with the responsibility to achieve business sales goals. By providing a high level of knowledge and technical proficiency with Icom Land Mobile products, the Manager will respond to and support customers, prospect assigned opportunities, support Federal Government bids and contracts, and identify third party products and applications to achieve communication solutions. The combination of these efforts will differentiate Icom America from the competition and set the highest standards in the communications industry.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be the initial contact for customer‐focused requests, pre-sales and post-sales support, and provide the first level of technical support to dealers, manufacturer reps, and customers within the Federal Market.
- Educate customers, dealers, and manufacturer reps on Icom products, keep them up-to-date with current sales promotions, recruit new dealers and direct accounts and the latest Icom Products and build Icom America’s business within the Federal Market.
- Work jointly with the sales management to create a federal plan, utilizing feedback from dealers, manufacturer reps, and adding personal knowledge of local market demand.
- Advocate for continual improvement in customer experience to increase brand loyalty.
- Act as the source for Icom products, programs, accessories, and applications used in developing total solutions. Become educated with the product line, learn how to use and program equipment and make product recommendations for various applications and solutions.
- Demonstrate product knowledge by presentations to customers, training others, identifying new opportunities for sales growth, and implement strategies to achieve and exceed sales.
- Plan activities for travel to customers and use each customer visit as an opportunity to understand unique customer needs and develop specific solutions. Attend trade shows and make presentations.
- Plan daily/weekly activities to communicate with customers, manufacturer reps, and dealers. Use each opportunity to train and coach. Assist at trade shows, road shows, and customer presentations to federal dealers and customers.
- Support and collaborate with the Federal Solutions Manager and other Icom America staff, share information and best practices, problem-solve, and encourage growth of all team members.
- Complete required sales, forecasting, and other reports on time. Communicate regularly with the Federal Sales Manager on status updates or when issues arise, and identify market trends to assist the Product Planning Team.
- Strong work performance and professionalism which includes the timely response to e-mail, phone calls, and text messages; for both internal (Icom Staff) and external customers, dealers, and manufacturer reps. Maintaining a standard of return for within 24 hours.
- Complete weekly activity reports and create a planned activity report for the upcoming week.
- Performing all assigned tasks in a timely manner and delivering on promised results.
- Attend all scheduled meetings, if unable to attend, provide sufficient notice to your supervisor.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
TECHNOLOGY - RF wireless technology, commercial and consumer products. Mobile voice and data communications, WLAN, Satellite, computer-controlled RF products, Two-way radio handsets and base stations, scanners and receivers, P25, IDAS, SMR, ESMR, MPT1327, TETRA, LTR, TDMA, LTE, and NXDN protocols. Successful experience in developing, presenting, closing and implementing total RF communication solutions a plus.
LEADERSHIP AND PEOPLE SKILLS - Ability to create an environment for team success. Generate enthusiasm; create a sense of urgency for the mission. Maintain team focus to drive execution. A good listener, able to negotiate conflicts and solve people problems.
COMPUTER SKILLS – Strong computer skills to analyze data and develop strategies. Extensive knowledge and skill in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point, Adobe and Web Ex. Ability to create presentations that link multiple applications.
PERSONALITY - High-energy, strong work ethic, good sense of humor, positive outlook. Adaptable to changes, work well under pressure, enthused by challenges. Experience in the U.S. Land Mobile radio industry. Winning personality and ability to develop rapport and relationships. Product training experience.
TOTAL SOLUTION SALES – Successful experience in developing, presenting and implementing total RF communication solutions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of extensive Federal DOD and Civilian Market experience.
- Professional Sales, Technical and/or marketing skills; excellent verbal and written communications skills; professional demeanor; presentation and public speaking abilities.
- Experience and exposure to RF wireless, digital and LEO Satellite technology including both commercial and consumer products.
- Work from a home office; ability to travel 2 weeks per month, including 2 weekends per month; demonstrated self-starter.
- Ability to focus on details, execute strategies, be flexible yet decisive, and build strong working relationships with peers and customers.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
