Junior Navy Engineer
Serco supports the US Navy as a prime for their Team Submarine contract supporting the acquisition of submarines. The Team Submarine concept unifies once diverse submarine-related activities into a single submarine-centric organization with the goal of eliminating traditional stovepipe structures and processes that created impediments and inefficiencies in the submarine research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities. Team Submarine provides improved communication among the various offices that contribute to the overall success of the United States Submarine Force.
Serco is actively seeking someone to support Team Submarines in engineering acquisition and program management support
General Duties
- Provide support to the Systems engineering department.
- Prepare and execute environmental documentation for exercises as it required by U.S law.
- Recommends course of action(s) for unexpected technical and programmatic issues related to RDT&E.
- Generates Acquisition documentation for Milestone Reviews
- Performs technical planning, cost, schedule, risk, supportability and effectiveness analysis for total systems; analyses performed at concept, design, test, evaluation and operational phases
- Reviews and develops analytical and technical input needed in order to evaluate documentation and development of briefs to ensure accurate, timely and essential information is proved to decision makers.
- Prepares Unclassified and Classified briefs for audiences up to and including the Flag level
- Assists the Test and Evaluation Manager as required.
- Meetings and specified Program Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
- Sets high personal standards for performance/conduct; demonstrates ability to be a team player; works well with others; contributes positively to work/team environment while continually seeks ways to enhance contribution to the team.
- Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision.
- Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Education and Required/Preferred Experience:
- Required: A Secret clearance and U.S. Citizenship.
- Required: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferably in mechanical engineering or other engineering disciplines)
- 2 year’s work experience within DoD, the Armed Services
- Required: MS Microsoft skills are essential, especially EXCEL and PowerPoint.
- Required: You must have the ability to work both in a team environment and independently, and often under short, multiple deadlines.
- Preferred work experience in the Navy and specifically within Team Submarine or submarines in general.
