About Our Opportunity
The purpose of this position is to assist departmental staff and management in the development and maintenance of GIS projects and databases as well as provide a learning opportunity for a GIS student. Qualified candidates should have GIS data development experience in a quality-controlled production environment and must possess the cognitive skills necessary to compile and interpret information.
Length of Internship
- 10-20 hours/weekly
- Flexible Schedule/Remote work possible depending on applicant and/or department needs
12-14 weeks, 1000 hours maximum
- GIS Data warehouse architecture
- GIS Integrations with Enterprise Software and Systems
- Symbology and Publishing Web Services
- ArcGIS Online
- Developing Metadata
Assistance with Work Orders related to GIS
- Updating hydrological data from State and Federal sources
- Creating and cleaning up existing database domains
Setting up GIS data transfers between different City systems. Provides some GIS support for various City Staff, such as trouble-shooting software, database connections and web mapping applications.
Candidates should be enrolled in an associate's, undergraduate, or graduate program with coursework related to Geography, Computer Science, or GIS or a recent graduate.
Applicants with equivalent combination of experience and/or education may be considered.
