Leidos is seeking a motivated Software Engineer Intern, based out of our Arlington, VA office. This position is available as remote work or onsite.

The candidate will work on projects to create software prototypes and user applications to support data analytics, machine learning, and other services. Our team supports both research and development projects as well as mission critical applications and the work includes both user interface and back-end development. The candidate must be intellectually adaptive, inquisitive, good at expressing their needs, and self-managed when necessary. Selected candidates will work alongside software/system engineers and research/data scientists with expertise in multi-modal information retrieval, UI development, computer vision, metrics, information science, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain prototypes, APIs, and microservices
• Troubleshoot and fix code
• Research and evaluate new technologies
• Design and architect technical solutions in collaboration with teammates

Basic Qualifications

• Currently enrolled and pursuing degree in the field of Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• Experience with Python, Java, or C++
• Communicative with the ability to state their needs and be an active member of a team
• Self-motivated and self-starter
• US Citizenship required
• Must have the ability of obtaining a DoD Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with prototype development
• Hands-on experience with automating data cleansing, formatting, staging, and transforming data
• Hands-on experience applying data analytics
• Experience using git, jupyter notebooks, vs code or other IDEs and version control systems
