Government Relations Intern
Looking for an opportunity to learn about health care policy, the legislative process, and government relations? The HealthPartners Government Relations team is seeking an intern to join our team during the 2022 Minnesota state legislative session. The main responsibility for this highly motivated candidate will be helping our team monitor legislation affecting the organization. They will participate in regular team meetings to set day to day legislative strategy and also spend time at the Minnesota State Capitol monitoring legislative hearings. This is an outstanding opportunity to gain experience in health care policy and the legislative process. This position will start late January 2022 and finish in late May 2022, working approximately 20 hours a week.
Responsibilities:
- Track state legislation and track internal analysis affecting HealthPartners
- Participate in team meetings and legislative strategy sessions
- Attend state legislative hearings and report on committee activity
- Other duties may be included
Required Qualifications:
- Enrolled in, or a recent graduate of a political science, health policy or related field
- Excellent written communication skills
- Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Expectation is that the work environment will be hybrid - must be flexible and willing to travel to HealthPartners in Bloomington and the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul, as well as working from home
- Self-motivator, able to work independently
- Must have reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong interest in government relations, health care and public policy
- Previous experience working with the legislative process or political campaigns
