Supply Chain/ Logistics Paid Internship

We are seeking a student pursuing a degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Operations Management, Analytics and/or Data Science or Industrial Engineering. The Smiths Group paid Internship's anticipated start date is January 17, 2021.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • The intern will work closely with the Smiths Indirect Sourcing and Procurement (SISP) Team, Supply Chain, Logistics Managers, and other key stakeholders to help analyze logistics data to identify opportunities for systemic improvements and logistics optimization. They will look to use data to test theories, discover opportunities and track results.
  • Responsible for creating PowerPoint slides to describe challenges, propose solutions and give updates on a regular basis
  • Will be asked to follow up & drive actions with individuals across the globe
  • Standardize work documentation - Prepare and document the work analysis into standard templates
  • Assist the Logistics Buyers in activities related to data collection and report development for logistics sourcing projects
  • Utilize data analysis to integrate improvements in a supply chain and logistics environment to create data models, evaluate simulations, perform cost studies, and develop strategies for the future
  • Intern presentations of work at end-of-term to division management

The Individual
  • Supply Chain, Finance, Operations Management, Data Science, and/or Industrial Engineering students enrolled in a 4-year accredited college program, with minimum sophomore year completed by summer of 2021
  • Strong analytical aptitude: do not have to be an expert, but comfortable with data and willing to learn
  • Familiarity of Logistics and Financial concepts as it relates to Supply Chain/Procurement, willing to learn
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to take work direction as a learning opportunity
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to management and cross functional team members
