What is the Invitern Program?
The Invitern Program offers opportunities for students, recent grads, or those who are early in their career to develop industry skills through Invitae's internship roles.
With each opportunity, we aim to create an experience for our interns (Inviterns!) that is enhanced by mentorship, networking opportunities, and impactful work. Throughout the duration of this program, we hope to offer a sense of community with our Inviterns and build lasting relationships. Our hope is that Inviterns become future Invitaens!
The 2022 Summer Invitern Program is a paid internship and will start June 6th, 2022 and commence August 12, 2022.

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic intern who is eager to learn about Invitae by assisting in the Variant Classification team. The team's goal is to provide information that can lead to meaningful, actionable, medical interventions that save or improve patient lives. We have a number of software projects that will offer training in both software development as well as bioinformatics technologies for a summer intern. You will be working closely with our team to develop software, conduct research, capture data, and present your work to the rest of the team. Your work will be reviewed by our developers and become part of our software serving millions of customers every year.
Intern Responsibilities:
- Develop software with help from a Mentor
- Analyze and process clinical and genetic data from DNA sequencing machines.
- Participate in our agile software development process
- Perform research together with a Mentor
Intern Requirements:
- A final year student or recent graduate
- Eager to learn and work with various teams in the company
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- General software development experience, ideally in Python
