Continuous Improvement Intern

We are looking for a highly motivated, professional, and analytical individual to join our team for the internship program. The Continuous Improvement team is responsible for process improvement, workflow analysis, solution design (including process mapping, business requirements, and technical requirements), and automation development leveraging tools such as SharePoint online, integration, and robotic process automation.
What does GTE look for in a Continuous Improvement Intern?
One of the major purposes of the Continuous Improvement internship is to provide with meaningful educationally related work experiences. The intern role is limited to the internship program terms only.
The dates for the internship program commence October through April 2022. Interns are expected to work part-time hours (25 hours or less per week). The expectation is that the internship will be the main priority for the candidate during the tenure of the internship.
The Continuous Improvement team is responsible for working with other departments to identify and prioritize process improvement and automation opportunities. The teams’ primary goal is to drive efficiency in employee processes and to ensure member experiences are simple and seamless.
Process Automation Research and Documentation Initiatives:
Working with our Member Care team to review processes, analyze data, and document current and desired state for various processes to improve employee efficiency and member experience.
Working with our Payment Operations team, review processes, analyze data, and document current and desired state regarding ACH payments, wire payments, and claim center to improve employee efficiency and member experience.
Experience:
- Demonstrated effective judgment in making decisions.
- Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications.
- Effective verbal communication and writing/documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently, and as a team member, while using discretion in making decisions and sound judgment in solving problems.
- Ability to think strategically and assess impacts on an enterprise wide basis.
- Ability to abide by deadlines for project completion.
- Ability to present a professional image when working with Management, as well as in professional. associations and other external interactions on behalf of GTE Financial.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment and works well independently.
Operational:
- Must demonstrate a functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act in addition to other Federal laws, including but not limited to U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.
- Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Enrolled in an accredited University
- Must submit a cover letter, resume, transcripts, and provide 3 references
- Demonstration of extra-curricular and community service activities
Required for Remote Work:
- A quiet workplace so you can focus on delivering excellent service to our members
- Some positions will require performance standards to be met to qualify for alternative work arrangements
- Required to have power and high-speed internet over 100MB (minimum)
- Video capability (connection of 1.5 Mbps up and down recommended)
- Candidates must provide and meet all technical requirements prior to the first day of training
- Hybrid candidates must live within driving distance of the office location and be able to regularly commute to and from the office location as needed
- Remote candidates must be able to attend on-premises meetings as required and/or requested
Position Details:
- Location: Downtown Tampa – GTE Headquarters
- Department Hours: Monday– Friday (8:00 am to 6:00 pm)
Part-time hours required, with additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects.
