The Winter 2022 Information Security Internship is anticipated to start January 3, 2022 and will report directly to the IT Security Engineer. This is a fully remote 12-week internship in the US.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Identification of the attack surfaces of people, processes, and technologies
- Identification of adversaries to emulate based on their capability, intent, and opportunity
- Gathering of Cyber Threat Intelligence including Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs), Tools, and Host Artifacts
- Mapping of the TTPs to the MITRE ATT & CK framework, including Objective, Command and Control, Initial Access, Execution, Defense Evasion, Discovery, Privilege Escalation, Persistence, Credential Access, and Exfiltration
- Create an Adversary Emulation plan to test key threat scenarios against Talend’s attack surface
- Define the scope of targets (accounts, networks, servers, apps, etc.), emulation timelines, and goals
- For Red team interest: Test TTPs before exercise in the staging environment
- For Blue team interest: Validate security tools are reporting to the SIEM and verify proper forensic tools are deployed in the staging environment
- Exercise and track the execution of the emulation
- Collaborate with teammates and contribute to the identification and improvements of security gaps or continuous monitoring capabilities
- Retest the improvement(s) to validate that the implemented change(s) have effectively remediated the reported issue(s) to mitigate future cyber risk
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work full-time for at least 30+ hours per week
- Interest in pursuing a career in Information Security
- Willingness to learn and apply new skills and technologies
- Desire to make an impact on real-world projects
- Self-study and/or university course(s) in information security, cybersecurity, information assurance, network security, discrete mathematics, data structures, and/or algorithms a plus
- Participation in Capture the Flag (CTF) event(s) and/or cybersecurity related hackathons a plus
- Project(s) posted on GitHub or other highlights of outside the classroom activities that demonstrate your interests a plus
