SPRING 2022 SEMESTER
OLA law student interns will conduct legal and non-legal research and analysis, prepare briefing papers and talking points, monitor and attend hearings of interest, and assemble briefing books and other materials relating to legislative and policy issues for OLA and Department leadership.
Internship Location: In person (Washington, DC.) or remote.
Minimum Commitment: 12 weeks with at least 16 hours per week beginning in January or February 2022.
Due to COVID-19, if selected, you may be expected to telework for an undefined period under the Department’s evacuation authority, even if your home is located outside the local commuting area. Employees in this status may be notified of a requirement to report in person to the component workplace with an advance notice of not less than 30 days. Prior to a requirement to report to the workplace, employees may be eligible to request to continue to telework one or more days a pay period depending upon the terms of the component’s telework policy.
OLA’s internship program is open to second and third-year law students. Excellent research and writing skills and proficiency in Westlaw and/or Lexis-Nexis is required. Demonstrated past interest in the legislative process and/or public affairs is highly desirable. Note that this internship can be completed remotely and students from outside the D.C. area are encouraged to apply.
