We improve the environment by first investigating to understand the current conditions of the land, the types and locations of contaminants, and their potential for migration and adverse impact. We investigate by researching past industrial uses of the property, by collecting and analyzing soil and groundwater samples, and by reviewing the geology of the site. We develop data summary tables and draw maps and cross-sections. Next we look at planned future use of the property to understand the needs of the owner, developer, and future occupants. We then perform risk assessments, develop remediation strategies, analyze costs and help our client and the regulatory agencies select the best cleanup option for the site. On many projects, we perform the remediation work providing excavation, demolition, contaminant removal and disposal, and recycling.

GIS Support (P/T Internship, Paid)

We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented GIS intern to join our award-winning company. The candidate will be expected to support project teams with database management and geospatial analysis. The ideal candidate will be an experienced ESRI ArcGIS user with a strong interest in data analysis, visualization, and the environment. This internship is an excellent opportunity to grow your skills in a professional setting.

Education/ Experience Requirements: At least two years of college-level study, including GIS courses, toward a major in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, or related field. Candidate must be familiar with database entry and organization, ESRI ArcGIS software, ArcGIS online, and ArcGIS Story Map.

Job Type: Part-time internship, 10-12 hours/week. Work hours are flexible to be scheduled Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

Compensation: $15/hour

Location: 801 Industrial Street, Wilmington, Delaware. Located on the 7th Street Peninsula near the Kalmar Nyckel Shipyard with free parking. Hybrid work arrangements (in office and remote) are available depending on project needs.
