Evernorth’s Global Data & Analytics team is seeking a 2022 Summer Intern who has a passion for data, analytics and loves working on things that make an impact. In your role as an Data Analyst Intern you will support the identification and solutioning of Business needs for externally sourced data, Purchase Contract structuring & negotiation and managing the strategic alignment of purchased data into the Enterprise level Data Governance protocols to enable and maximize access & consumption at an Enterprise level. To achieve this you will engage with a number of different groups who interact with and support our efforts, including other members of the External Data Exchange team, Finance & Sourcing/Procurement teams, Engineering & Data Warehouse teams, Data Vendors and of course our dedicated Business Partners who represent a spectrum of roles; Data Analysts and Scientists, Data Visualization Developers, Marketing and Sales Teams, Product Owners and others.

This role will provide you ample opportunity to learn about Healthcare, Data Acquisition & Transformation aligned to tangible results and improvement in member health, Purchase Contracting & Vendor Management as well as the underlying data & methodologies used to help arm the Cigna & Evernorth businesses with insights to make the best decision in support of health care delivery.

What You’ll Do:
Bring fresh perspective – serve as a catalyst to leverage your personal insight, experience and unique frame-of-reference to drive new ideas/approaches and positive solutions
Collaborate across the Enterprise to deliver results – to gather and share requirements, discuss challenges & opportunities, work tactically to implement data purchases and ensure correct integration of alignment of purchased data
Create and tell compelling stories – distill complex Business needs & challenges into data informed solutions
Define, document and validate data needs - diving deep to infer meaning and uncover insightful data trends which inform local market decisions
Data and Contract Research - Analyze existing & proposed data sources, data quality and data usage models and lineage
Define Best Practices – Assist with documentation of External Data Exchange “how to” and “best practices” guidance

Qualifications:
Rising Senior pursuing degree in Healthcare Administration, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Data and Analytics, or other related fields of study with a cumulative GPA 3.0+ preferred
Someone who relates to the world, through data - without data, you feel lost

Detail oriented – you listen well, are precise about documenting the business needs, drivers and constraints as well as understanding the need to tease-out subtle nuances appropriately
Ability to make sound decisions and piece together puzzles with limited direction – you’re your own leader
Excited to assemble materials and present to audiences with poise and authority – you have a knack for captivating audiences
Highly fluent with Microsoft Office suite, as well as collaborative/shared work sites such as SharePoint, Confluence, OneDrive
Enjoys prospect of delivering win-win-win outcomes for Cigna, our Provider Partners and Members

Schedule: You must be available to work a 40-hour work week for 10-12 weeks summer 2022, beginning May 23, 2022. ​

This role can work from home from however, geographical preference is CT/MA.

One goal of this internship program is to prepare and identify qualified candidates for roles with Cigna post-graduation. Therefore, this temporary internship is open only to individuals who are eligible for employment in the United States and who would not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.

This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
