Global Noncommunicable Diseases Internship

3.6

RTI International seeks a prospect for the Global Noncommunicable Diseases Internship within the International Development Group.

RTI International’s Center for Global Noncommunicable Diseases within the International Development Group is committed to addressing the large and growing burden of NCDs (such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and chronic respiratory disease) worldwide with a particular focus on low- and middle-income countries. Our team works with countries, other research institutions, and multilateral organizations (such as the United Nations and World Health Organization) to achieve Sustainable Development Goal Target 3.4, which aims to reduce by one-third premature mortality from NCDs by 2030. We also generate new evidence to guide global and national decision-making to reduce the burden of NCDs, as well as provide policy advice.

The Global Noncommunicable Diseases Internship is ideal for students interested in research in the fields of global health, international development, health disparities, health economics, health communications, and/or global health policy. The Intern will gain experience in data analysis and application of epidemiological concepts, as they relate to NCDs, the epidemiological transition in low- and middle-income countries, and cost-benefit analysis of public health programs in low- and middle-income countries.
