2022 Commercial Mortgage Loans Internship - Remote

Symetra has been in the commercial mortgage lending business for over 30 years. Through our relationships with mortgage bankers, we lend on completed commercial and multi-family properties. We focus on projects between $1 million and $20 million and a variety of property types including retail, light industrial/warehouse, office, multifamily and single tenant/owner occupied properties.
Symetra's Internship Program for Summer 2022 is entirely remote - all interns will learn and work in a virtual setting. The internship duration is 12 weeks.
Your responsibilities
- Analyze property operating statements, rent rolls, NOIs and property inspections.
- Enter financial data on master spreadsheet and into loan servicing records management system.
- Download electronic documents from Loan Portal, save to appropriate loan folders, and update due diligence checklists
- Post-closing review of final title insurance policy to approved proforma received at closing and the original recorded loan documents for accuracy upon receipt from title company
- Follow up as needed for recorded loan documents, scan and file recorded documents, and update due diligence checklist
- Review property & liability insurance and actively pursue corrections where necessary to assure satisfaction of standard insurance requirements for closing
- Review signed estoppels upon receipt to verify rental income used to underwrite the loan and to identify any exceptions and elevate for analysis as appropriate
- Set up new loan files after applications are signed including verification/validation that property addresses are correct and ordering EDR reports and life of loan flood certifications
- Run on-line search of borrower and/or guarantor entities on the appropriate secretary of state's website and file results in electronic file
- Transmit Appraisals and Phase I reports to consultants as well as resolve minor third party report issues
- Communicate with and provide support to mortgage bankers and borrowers via email and telephone.

Your education, experience and skills
- Excellent customer service experience with a can-do attitude toward service.
- Ability to accept direction from multiple sources and effectively translate direction into action
- Strong verbal communication skills enabling positive and effective one-on-one interaction with a wide variety of individuals and audiences
- Writing skills enabling effective communication of expectations and actions
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy with strong organization skills
- Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple transactions at a time with minimal direction
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Adobe Acrobat, Dynamics CRM
- You’re a self-starter who asks questions and takes the initiative to get things done
