Research Intern

Section4 is on a mission to deliver elite business education for all. Since early 2020, the best minds in business have taught over 15,000 students strategic frameworks that have upleveled their thinking and accelerated their career - all this without the friction of business school applications and at a fraction of the cost. If you’re interested in joining a fast-paced education startup making a meaningful impact in the world, join us at Section4.

We are seeking a scrappy, data-driven intern for our Research team to find creative data and evidence to support storylines and insights delivered in our intensive sprints, video case studies, livestream decks, and other content products. You’ll also contribute research to guide our internal strategy and vision. The ideal candidate is as comfortable analyzing data in Excel as they are writing a script or building a PowerPoint deck.

This is a remote position paid hourly at 10 - 15 hours per week. We’re looking for someone to work December-May, with a potential for this role to continue beyond May.

What you'll do

    • Support our product development by digging into company 10-Ks, funding rounds, web traffic, and other publicly available data (LinkedIn, Google Trends, etc.) to understand a company’s strategy.
    • Contribute data analysis, research, and writing to create Section4 sprints and membership content.
    • Conduct desktop research to influence Section4 internal strategy including competitive benchmarking, industry analysis, and research into new potential professors.
    • Analyze internal and external data in Google sheets, Excel, and SQL.
    • Build powerpoint decks and write video scripts.

Who you are

    • You’re intellectually curious and detail-oriented, with a penchant for over-delivering. We want to know what podcasts and resources you tune into regularly.
    • You have excellent written and verbal communication chops. Writing is a major component of our work in Research - so having that as a core competency will be helpful.
    • You have or are pursuing a degree in business, economics, political science, or a similar field that balances quantitative and qualitative methods.
    • You have experience conducting desktop research (using publicly available data) via academic work or previous work experience.
    • You have strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving and research skills.
    • You’re passionate about making education accessible and affordable, and eager to learn the ins and outs of launching a new product.

Bonus points

    • Experience analyzing business data such as financial statements, earnings calls, and/or digital traffic data is a plus
