Job Summary:
ABC11/WTVD, the ABC Owned Television station in Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville, North Carolina has an exciting opportunity for a paid internship. The internship is open to college juniors and seniors majoring in Journalism or Communications.

Responsibilities:

As an intern, you will have a unique, hands-on opportunity to experience what it takes to work at a local television station. You will learn about the newsgathering process, on-air execution, and behind-the-scenes technology.

• Work closely with reporters, producers, and the digital team
• Write vos and vo/sots for digital newscasts
• Attend shoots and interviews with reporter and/or photographer
• Log interviews with use of Dalet, our media and story management platform
• Set up interviews
• Submit FOIAS (Freedom of Information Requests)
• Help find original, diverse digital stories
• Collaborate with digital team to create online content for abc11.com and abc11 streaming apps

Basic Qualifications:

• Highly motivated college junior/senior majoring in Journalism or Communications
• Some editorial experience in rooting out a story
• Strong communication skills to talk to viewers
• Previous experience with an internship at a TV station important
• Strong interest in helping others

Preferred Qualifications:

• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
• Must be at least 18 years old
• At the time of application, students must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter OR be a recent graduated of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months OR be currently participating in a Disney Professional Internship
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
• Must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the semester

Additional Information: PROGRAM DATES:

• All candidates must be available from January 2022 through May/June 2022
• All candidates must be willing to work* two to three days per week* for a total of 10 hours each week, for a total of 120 hours over the course of the semester
• All candidates must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship
