Lockstep is looking for software engineering interns for our Winter 2022 program. Each internship lasts for twelve weeks and includes a detailed project plan. You'll work with a team under the guidance of senior Lockstep team members. Each intern will report directly to the Director of their division and be paired with a team member mentor. The intern will learn and gain practical experience in a variety of disciplines, including C#, SQL Server, Azure Devops, and more.
Lockstep Software Engineering Winter 2022 Back End Internship
- Duration: Each internship lasts for twelve weeks.
- Salary: The internship is paid with a competitive salary.
- Location: The intern is fully remote and can work from anywhere in the United States.
- Dates:
- November 8: Applications are open. Read more about the process on our Winter 2022 Internship blog post.
- November 22: Applications are closed. Interns that have passed basic screening are sent an invitation to complete a coding test to demonstrate software programming skills.
- December 6: Coding tests are closed. The top scoring applicants on this programming test are invited to attend a 30-minute virtual interview with senior staff.
- December 17: Interview period ends. All offer letters are sent.
- January 10, 2022: Internship start date!
- Scope: Each intern will work with a team on a single project. The scope of the project has been selected to help the intern experience all the stages of software engineering: design, planning, execution, and delivery.
- Bootcamp: A two-week introduction period where the intern learns the basics of Lockstep's platform.
- Mentorship: Interns meet regularly with senior engineers and with engineering leadership for career and technical guidance.
- Graduation: Successful interns receive priority consideration for fulltime positions at Lockstep.
- Specific job/project duties and team alignment will depend on the integration project for each intern.
Job Duties
- Perform independent research to identify a project design, and propose solutions to roadblocks along the way
- Develop solutions that work with the financial software ecosystem, including both internal and external products
- Partner with senior team members to learn techniques for writing practical code in the accounting field
- Develop test plans to ensure security, accuracy, and reliability for your solution
- Participate in the engineering team's full lifecycle development process
- Identify and mitigate potential risks with early planning
Qualifications
- General understanding of software engineering practices and agile and scrum methodologies
- Familiarity or experience with common back end technologies, including C#, SQL, and cloud computing platforms like AWS or Azure
- Interest in a career in the software engineering field
- A desire to make accounting better for everyone
- Creativity, persistence, and enthusiasm
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in computer science or related field via a college, university, or technical school program
