For more than 50 years, NARAL Pro-Choice America and its chapters have fought to protect and expand reproductive freedom —including access to abortion and contraception — for every body. We are powered by our more than 2.5 million members from every state and congressional district in the country, representing the 7 in 10 Americans who believe every person should have the freedom to make the best decision for themselves about if, when, and how to raise a family.
As the oldest and largest national membership organization primarily focused on advocating for abortion access, we organize and mobilize, galvanizing millions of people to take action to defend reproductive freedom, and shining a spotlight of accountability on bad actors who work to impose their ideological agenda on others. We also work to elect champions for reproductive freedom and advance state and federal legislation to safeguard it.
Summary
NARAL Pro-Choice America is hiring for multiple positions in our internship and fellowship program. Our program will help you gain real-world, practical job skills to prepare you for your career. As one of the leading advocacy organizations in the country, you'll be learning from the best - and leaving your mark on the organization as well. Our interns contribute significantly to the fight to protect and expand reproductive freedom for every body.
We are looking for fiercely pro-choice candidates with a strong commitment to reproductive freedom. If you're interested in policy, politics, non-profit work, and/or reproductive freedom, we want to hear from you!
Details
Compensation: Hourly rate $15.00hr and a $50 per month home office stipend depending on in-person/remote capabilities. Internships are typically between 15-37.5 hours a week, with the hours flexible as needed.
Start Date: Either January 17, 2022 OR January 24, 2022
Location: Due to COVID-19, the nature of in-person work environments and stay at home remote work are constantly changing. We are making accommodations to have remote internships.
In this internship, you will...
- Research and coordinate resources on candidates for elected office and key electoral races in the 2022 cycle
- Create and maintain internal tracking documents to inform political strategy efforts
- Assist in interviewing candidates who seek endorsement in state and federal races
- Represent NARAL at internal and external meetings with key stakeholders
- Draft endorsement rollout materials and assist in updating NARAL’s endorsement and PAC websites
- Gain insight into the day-to-day operations of NARAL’s political arm, including our endorsement process and our PAC (Political Action Committee)
- Provide general administrative support to the Political Department, as needed
We're looking for someone who...
- Has strong writing and research skills
- Can manage several ongoing projects at a time and appropriately prioritize tasks
- Has a detail-oriented work style
- Can be entrusted with handling confidential information
- Has prior knowledge / experience in political campaigns and/or issue advocacy, including past engagement in a volunteer capacity
- Can summarize information in a concise manner
- Is enthusiastic about electing pro-choice candidates up and down the ballot in 2022
