What type of work will you be doing an intern? What assignments or requirements will you be performing on a regular basis?

Depending on your background, interest, and technical alignment to the various areas of VMware Platform Services technology stack, you could be working on team projects. The most important item to remember about a VMware as an intern is that it’s all about potential and learning. We want our interns to be well rounded individuals driven to learn new things.

As an intern on this team, you’ll work on:

The VMware Platform Services team ensures our internal and external customers enjoy a high-quality experience across the entire product portfolio. Our goal is to provide compelling, innovative, scalable, and seamless engineering services, which will protect VMware’s brand reputation by continually improving customer satisfaction. We bring together key R&D functions such as build, performance, security, developer tools, and more. We work hand-in-hand with development teams to focus on product innovation and industry-leading solutions. Our priorities include investing in R&D talent, sharing best practices, and driving scale and agility in VMware products.

What are skills that would be helpful for a successful internship?

• Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s or PhD Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Coursework (in some) of the following: Data structure and Algorithms, Storage and\or Operating Systems, Computer Architecture, Machine Learning, Compilers, Networking, Distributed Systems, Analytics, and Web Development
• Strong knowledge in one or more of the programming languages of C, C++, Java, Go Programming, and Python.
• Linux system skill

(Experience in on ore more of the areas is not required, but is a definite plus)

• Previous internship experience
• Experience developing client-server or distributed, multithreaded applications
• Integration test design, implementation, execution, debugging, and automation
• School or industry projects involving significant design and development
• Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate ideas in a precise and concise manner
