Jr Tester
Duration: 6 month contract to hire
Location: 100% remote
Description:
Our customer is looking for a junior quality assurance tester to join their team. This person will be working remotely. Currently there are about 96 developers that work on site at their University that are broken down by product teams. There are about 20 PMs and each about 2-3 development teams under them. Overall they have an enterprise level IT department with 500 people in IT. Within this team alone, there are 2 QAs plus the manager.
This person will be responsible for doing project specific work for the LMS team supporting their canvas project. Our customer is currently moving from Blackboard to Canvas and this QA will focus solely on supporting this initiative with another tester. They will be doing sprint planning, writing automation tests cases and running these. Currently, they work in 2 week sprints.
They will look at development candidates but they want to see experience with the following:
- Helped create Automated testing framework
- Created user stories for development team
- Wrote test cases for application acceptance
Their day-to-day will consist of 60% automation testing and 25-30% writing the automation tests and doing sprint planning. They will also be working with automation tools such as: Selenium, protractor, TestNG, or Junit).
Job Summary
Quality Analyst will be working with one of our development teams to design, develop and implement automated testing systems. The ideal candidate will be someone that is able to think creatively about how an application is used and how we can ensure that the end user is getting what they expected. Will conduct both manual and automated testing as well as document the testing process. The candidate needs to be self-motivated, team player, pay attention to details and be willing to learn new systems and technologies. The QA will need to take responsibility for ensuring that all relevant parties are in the loop and aware of the status of the testing process throughout.
Basic Function:
- Design test plans, scenarios, scripts, or procedures.
- Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems.
- Work with development teams to develop detailed test cases before individual test cycle start date.
- Participate in story design, development and estimation as input to release planning.
- Collaborate with development team to develop automated end to end tests as well as integration tests for each product release.
- Collaborate with development team in tackling the reported defects and understand how the bug is fixed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Computer Science, Information Systems) with 2-3 years of experience in automation testing.
- Knowledge of Agile software development
- Experience writing test cases from user stories and acceptance criteria in an Agile model.
- Require attention to details.
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
- Proficient with using Visual studio code, eclipse or other IDE’s.
- Experience with Jira, TFS or a related SDLC application
- 2-3 years of experience with SQL testing for data testing.
- Knowledge of Unix, Selenium, SQL, Java, JavaScript, HTML, JSON and source control Git/bit bucket
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with deployment automation such as IBMs Urban Code Deploy, Openshift, GCP, Azure.
- Experience in building automated testing architectures / frameworks.
- ASTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level
- Experience with RESTful API testing
