Position Overview
Looking to kick-start your career in Information Technology Product Development? How would you like to get your foot in the door of a large, complex, Enterprise IT environment with more than 10,000 users? Kiewit Technology Group is hiring for a summer internship with a possible part time extension.
We have multiple opportunities available to work in various roles on an Agile Project Development Team. These interns will have the opportunity to work on application development projects and experience all aspects of the Project Development Lifecycle: Requirements, Design, Build and Quality/Testing.
The Product Development Internship is intended for students who are beginning their academic studies and would like to learn more about careers in product development through a learning program. Interns will gain group project experience working alongside other Product Development Interns. Your on-the-job learning will be enhanced with mentoring, team building and networking opportunities. We won’t hire just any student! We are looking for someone who is sharp, personable, organized, who takes initiative, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, who can thrive in a multi-tasked, team environment, build relationships, and communicate effectively across the organization.
This program is designed to encourage your interest in product management, business analysis, user experience, quality assurance, or a related technical discipline. This position is based out of the Kiewit Technology Group located at 12720 I Street, Omaha, NE 68137.
Responsibilities
Contribute to efforts in the Kiewit Technology Group Application Development organization
Work with various roles in a practicing Agile team environment:
- Product Owner
- Business Analyst
- Quality Assurance
- UX/UI
You will work closely within a team of Product Development Interns that will have end-to-end ownership for the requirements, design, development, and quality of a project that will be used on Kiewit job sites or home office locations
Work closely with your Manager, and Mentors to evaluate requirements, estimate costs, test and implement features and services
Through repeat internships, gain experience in each of the roles on a cross-functional team
Other responsibilities as assigned or as new processes are developed
Qualifications
- Ability to work 40 hours over the summer
- Currently pursuing a degree a Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology, Business, or related field
- Desire to explore a career in Information Technology, Product Development, or related field
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Takes initiative and strives for continuous improvement
- Must be organized. To include time management, being task-orientated, and setting and meeting deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint and Excel
- Learn to effectively troubleshoot and solve problems
- Learn to work in a multi-tasked environment
- Learn to work well independently and with a team
- Learn to identify and communicate risks or potential problems appropriately
