Balyasny Asset Management is looking for an exceptional Data Analyst/Python developer to work on a Industrials Portfolio Management team on projects related to fundamental commodity research, data gathering/processing automation, and back-tested data-driven idea generation. This is an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge research at a leading hedge fund, offering hands-on experience at the intersection of fundamental investing and data analysis.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Help develop a back tester tailored for the team, which will be used to generate and analyze trading ideas
• Automate existing data gathering, analytical and modeling processes for both commodities and equities
• Collaborate with Portfolio Manager and team to brainstorm creative uses for data in the investment process
• Conduct forecast or model error analysis, and provide findings to improve forecast/model accuracy
• Construct or enhance data visualization tools

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRMENTS

• Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, or any STEM related field.
• Availability to work 15 -20 hours per week in the Winter. Potential to extend through Spring as well, and convert into a full time in the Summer 2022.
• This is a remote internship opportunity – if local to Miami or Toronto, ability to work in the BAM offices.
• Proficient with Python. Knowledge of web scraping and database tools (SQL/SQLite) is a plus
• Strong analytical and data processing skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, team attitude
• Ability to multi-task with outstanding attention to detail
