We at Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies run the business operations of Freudenberg Sealing Technologies (FST) in the Americas. Being part of the global Freudenberg Group, our company is a leading producer of advanced sealing technologies for automotive and general industries. Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies is a joint venture between Freudenberg and NOK Corp. in Japan, is headquartered in Plymouth, MI, and operates more than 20 facilities with about 4,700 employees across the Americas.

Responsibilities

  • Self-starter: communicate and visit customers and use the opportunity to build relationships especially with the customer’s purchasing and engineering team. Use the relationship to build confidence in FNST to gain a competitive edge for maintaining / winning business and gain insight into customer’s inner workings and strategies.
  • Learn and know the complete range of FST product offerings.
  • Learn and observe the market and competitive situation with assigned customers.
  • Establish management level contacts within customer’s business structure.
  • Ability to connect various pieces of information and create action list (ex. when is the current program ending? Would there be loss of business and/or new business opportunities?).
  • Ability to set up and implement local customer strategies for growth in alignment with internal and external stakeholders including FNST’s JV partners and strategize with mentor on global customer opportunities.
  • Understand and help maintain strong and regular alignment of all associates and team activities within the customer segment structure and jointly align overall strategic actions.
  • Identify new value-added technical solutions for customers.
  • Convey and communicate customers engineering needs to LC/CC’s and appropriate Application Engineers.
  • Project management skills – Ability to understand customer schedule and proactively follow both internally and externally for smooth launch.
  • Ability to gain in-depth understanding of existing business and create roadmap for protecting existing business and identifying area(s) of growth.
  • Central contact, coordinator and administrator of all important customer information (contract, master data, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills – Fully understand expectation, prepare proposal, and reach agreement.
  • High intercultural competence as customer locations and contacts can be global in nature.
  • Must be highly organized and flexible to handle multiple priorities and clients.
  • Strong negotiation skills – Both internally and externally; ability to balance various group’s needs.
  • Need to have strong reasoning ability in order to build logic for negotiating and justifying FNST position.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.
  • Ability to pack up a bag and travel domestically with short notice. Ability to drive distances to visit customers.
  • Able to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Up to 25% special projects in areas of process improvement, systems improvement and training and General Industry Inside Sales liaison as assigned by Manager
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BA or BS degree
  • 0-2 + years of proven successful sales experience managing and growing sales in Commercial accounts via Inside Sales or Outside Sales.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time for domestic business, with little advance notice.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other Technical 4-year degree.
  • Proven ability to develop a strategic customer growth plan and implement this plan.
  • Strong communications skills both internally and externally.
  • 2 + year’s work experience dealing with engineering and purchasing personnel at large General Industry accounts.
  • All described in minimum qualifications as well as 2 + years of direct sales responsibility to General Industry customers.
