The Summer Associate Graduate Intern Program is a 10+ week program beginning in June 2022 and ends in August 2022. The long-term intention for this program is to hire interns that prove their aptitude into full time roles. To qualify for an internship, applicants must be currently pursuing a graduate or PHD level degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date after the final day of the internship (December 2022 or later).

Department:
Internal Audit provides independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve Navy Federal’s operations. Internal Audit assists Navy Federal in accomplishing its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

Navy Federal is growing rapidly and the environment in which we operate is in constant flux, posing new and unique risks to the enterprise. Internal Audit needs to continuously evolve to best provide independent and objective assurance.

The Analytics Summer Associate will report to leadership at our Vienna, VA campus with flexibility to telework as appropriate.

Responsibilities
The Associate will be a member of the Internal Audit (IA) Reporting & Analytics Team which is tasked with using technical and analytics solutions to drive decision making across Internal Audit.

The Associate will identify and assess risk through descriptive and predictive analytics. The Associate will develop analytical work products to include SQL queries, statistical metrics and measures, unsupervised and supervised machine learning, and business intelligence dashboards. The Associate will also engage with business units, Internal Auditors, and other risk partners to define business processes and identify risks and controls to enhance the value and feasibility of any analytics.

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing master’s degree or higher in data analytics, data science, information systems, mathematics / statistics, operations research, engineering or related
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Effective project management and client engagement skills
  • Advanced data science skills to include coding in SQL, Python and / or R
  • Advanced research and analysis skills
