Our Game Plan
The New York Islanders Hockey Club is one of the most iconic franchises in professional sports with a deeply passionate and loyal fanbase. We’ve won four consecutive Stanley Cups in the early 1980s and are well on our way to add to that legacy. The next few years will be action-packed as we complete our world-class, state-of-the-art arena, reposition our brand in the Long Island and Metro New York markets, and prepare to reclaim the Stanley Cup.
How to Make the Team
Our Interns bring exceptional communication skills, creativity and a strong work ethic. This role will focus on creative thinking, storytelling, social analytics and requires the person to be able to work collaboratively and independently to assist the social media department. This position also requires a high degree of personal integrity, timeliness, workload prioritization and exceptional problem-solving skills.
Show Us You Can
- Research and present new social media trends, pop culture references and opportunities to create buzzworthy content on social media
- Assist the social media team with content tagging and analytics reporting
- Assist the web content team with photo galleries
- Assist with creating new ways to engage the Islanders fan base through the team’s social platforms
- Assist with event and game coverage for Islanders social media channels
- Think creatively and contribute to the overall department goals
- Work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task and collaborate

Your Training & Talent
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited college program studying Communications, Digital Media, Digital Marketing or Journalism
- Background and understanding in the field of digital & social media
- Awareness of and interest in the latest digital, social media and emerging trends shaping professional sports
- Ability to capture both photo and video content via DSLR and Iphone
- Excellent writing skills
- Excellent Adobe Creative Suite skills
- Microsoft Office skills
Where You’ll Go
- Based on current conditions, you will primarily be working remotely
- You are expected to work ALL home games at UBS Arena
- In the near future, you may report to our Floral Park, NY office on a limited basis
- There may be additional team events that could fall on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
