The Technology & Engineering organization is comprised of the global engineering function, several focused centers of expertise, and our advanced Research & Development Facility - the Research Center. The Electromagnetic and Network Systems Team at Raytheon Technologies Research Center is seeking Research Interns who will join in a multidisciplinary team working in the research and development in RF/microwave, photonics, and optics.
Roles & Responsibilities: We have multiple open positions for Winter 2022 and Summer 2022.
The candidate is expected to work on one or more of the following areas that overlaps with his/her expertise:
- Microwave and millimeter wave circuits, sensors, and systems, optical components and systems, photonic integrated circuits, metamaterials, microwave photonics, quantum optics, sensing and communication, multi-scale, and multi-physics simulation of optoelectronic and electromagnetic devices.
- The candidate is expected to contribute to design, modeling, and testing, and utilize modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results, assist in the research.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- The preferred candidate should have a strong understanding of science and engineering principles, experience with relevant commercial simulators and designs techniques such as circuit design (e.g., Keysight ADS), FEM (e.g., Comsol, HFSS), FDTD (e.g., Lumerical), ray tracing (e.g., Zemax), and machine learning-based inverse design (e.g., TensorFlow), hands on experience with microwave and optics related test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, vector signal analyzers, vector signal generator, lasers, image sensors, single photon detectors.
- She/he must be self-motivated, must have excellent communication and strong problem-solving skills.
Education & Experience:
- Candidates for this position are required to be a graduate student (Ph.D., or Master) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field, with relevant experience and completed course work.
Work Authorization:
- US permanent residency (Green card) or US-citizenship is required.
