2022 Belk Internship Program—Financial Planning & Analysis

Position Summary:
As a participant in the Belk Internship Program you will gain real word experience and exposure to various functional areas of Financial Planning & Analysis. You will focus on business decision support and enterprise-wide financial planning & analysis. The Internship Program provides exposure to senior leaders, professional development workshops, structured assignments, and social events over the 10 weeks in the Summer. Interns will leave understanding the complexity of big box department stores and the excitement of the retail and ecommerce industry. The internship will be hybrid this summer. You will primarily work remotely, but we will bring you onsite to Charlotte a few times over the summer.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Partner with business leaders to understand current state & upcoming risks and opportunities
Identify, quantify, and assist in implementing expense saving ideas
Assist with developing budget, forecast, and scenario planning reporting for inclusion in executive level
Identify and implement process improvement opportunities in Financial Planning Department
Build appropriate pro forma models or reports to support strategic planning initiatives
Complete ad hoc projects assigned by team

Requirements/Qualifications:
Rising college senior planning to graduate in December 2022 or Spring 2023
Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by Belk for this position now or in the future
Proven strong academic performer (GPA of 3.2 or higher preferred)
Preferred major in Finance, Economics or Business
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power point, Excel etc.)
Leadership skills that include professional business ethics, confidence and self-motivation
