Program Implementation Unit Internship
Position Description:

This Intern position will work as a member of the Project Implementation Unit (PIU). S/he will support PIU leads to carryout daily tasks and ad hoc operational work for assigned projects. This position will have exposure to various projects and learn USG grants’ rules and regulations along with other corporate/foundation grant processes. Depending on the supporting projects, the intern will report directly to Director, Senior Program Manager, Program Manager, Senior Program Coordinator or Program Coordinator.
Essential Functions:
- Day-to-day and timely administrative, financial, and operational support to project activities per instructions and oversight of Manager, including documentation, archiving, biodata reviews, consultant hire and tracking etc.
- Process purchase requests through Plan International USA’s software system (Beanworks)
- Basic copy-editing/formatting of documents, reports, and other information that will be submitted to donors
- Assists Manager with compliance related issues, including vetting for grantees and vendors and spot-checking grants and procurements for backup documentation.
- Maintains central program files for Plan International USA Office (USNO) institutional grants.
- Prepares and contributes to project implementation and tracking reports
- Provides support to PIU initiatives as directed by Manager
- Supports/ prepares information for meetings (i.e. background documents, Portfolio Review Heat Maps for ET/Board)
- Supports Business Development efforts, as needed/ requested
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong communications skills in written and spoken English. French language skills preferred.
- Basic formatting/copy-editing skills
- Demonstrated experience in fostering collaborative working relationships with organizational program and operational management teams
- Demonstrated experience on the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- A demonstrated commitment to Plan International’s Mission.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in relevant field
- 1 year of professional experience, including internships. Experience with project management preferred.
Position Type/Hours of Works
During this period, this position will work remotely. This will be a part-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, but will be flexible based on work demand.
