Practice Intelligence Data Analyst – Remote
Position Summary
Are you looking for the opportunity to join a team doing cutting-edge work in the NLP/AI space? We are a small team inside a big law firm that is developing custom applications and solutions to get a handle on its vast repositories of data. You’ll be joining a team who left the startup life for the opportunities presented by a large law firm to do some really cool things with data and technology.
We are looking for a junior analyst, preferably with some development experience, who is interested in building their analytics and machine learning skillset.
Essential Functions
- Work closely with Sr. Developer and other analysts to develop custom solutions related to extracting, analyzing, and processing large and small data sets
- Develop custom NLP ML models to categorize text and extract entities and other relevant information
- Integrate a variety of data sources, both local and third-party, via API and custom interfaces
- Develop custom extraction methodologies to extract text from PDF and other document sources
- Work closely with product managers and PM on projects
- Document processes into technical requirements
- Identify opportunities to leverage internal and external data sources to create value for Firm lawyers and operations – including marketing, pricing efficiencies, talent, and retention
- Researching and staying up-to-date with the latest machine learning tools available
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders through every step of the software development life cycle
- Communicate with the team and stakeholders on a regular basis
- Work with analysts to extract, normalize, and label data sets
- Deliver software applications from beginning to end, including collecting data, building and testing software implementations, and deploying completed projects

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Strong proficiency in Python and R
- Experience handling large datasets and using data visualization tools
- Strong working knowledge of various NLP platforms such as CoreNLP, spaCy, and/or other NER-related tools as well as associated machine learning algorithms, including BERT, FastText and/or ELMo
- Familiar with machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, or PyTorch
- Strong proficiency in ETL process
- Knowledge of software engineering practices including clean coding, code reviews, version control, build processes, testing, etc.
- Significant experience generating structured “clean” data from unstructured text documents, including extracting from the text of the document itself as well as associated metadata
- Experience with querying third-party data sources via GraphQL, rest, or other methods
- Self-starter capable of working remotely and with little supervision and able to work through and resolve technical issues on their own
- Experience with business intelligence software such as Tableau and Microsoft Power BI is a plus
- Knowledge of AutoML and/or GPT-3 is a plus

Benefits
In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected salary range for this Colorado position is between $70,000 and $90,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position qualifies for the below staff benefits.
