IT Intern – Process Management
Location: Kalamazoo, MI or Remote (Eastern Time Zone is preferred)
Position Summary:
The Zoetis Tech & Digital (ZTD) organization has been experiencing a period of growth over the last several years. Our teams are growing and, as such, processes we have in place currently, need revision to accommodate the demand and size of our expanded organization and demand for resources and budget. In addition, new processes (formal and informal) are likely required.
You will work in partnership with the Systems and Data Lead to review & refine as well as create new processes and procedures in the ZTD Veterinary Medicine Research & Development and Performance Livestock Farming organization. This internship will focus on ZTD processes and procedures specific to ZTD in the Systems and Data discipline.
The ideal candidate is a quick learner, self-motivated, and able to work independently with confidence to ask questions when and where required to complete assigned tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct interviews to gain understanding of Current State Processes
- Create an intersection matrix for existing processes
- Identify inefficient/non-existent processes/process steps with recommendation of high value remediation actions
- Author Wiki’s in our Confluence environment which document Processes and Procedures
- Including Process Flows for inclusion in the Wiki’s
Successful conclusion of the internship will result in the following deliverables:
- ZTD Processes and Procedures specific to the Systems and Data discipline will have been documented in Confluence allowing the Wiki(s) to be easy to update and maintain moving forward
- The intersection matrix will have been documented in Confluence allowing the Wiki(s) to be easy to update and maintain moving forward
- Where a Current State Process/Procedure was not viable to streamline because of time constraints, the remediation steps will be documented in the Wiki associated with the Process/Procedure
- A summary of what the ZTD Engineering Process Analyst has learned will be shared with the larger ZTD organization in a presentation given at the conclusion of the engagement
Education and Experience:
- Studying Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
- Previous intern experience or work-related experience is desirable
- Familiarity and experience with software development
- Able to interpret and explain IT issues in very simple non-IT terminology
- Effective meeting skills, presentation skills, and the ability to learn quickly in a rapidly evolving environment
- Ability to build working relationships within an organization and between organizations
- Ability to clearly and effectively relay key information to management levels
- Ability to provide concise and “to the point” informative reports
Knowledge, Skills, Ability Requirements:
- High level of integrity and strong ethical values
- Strong can-do attitude
- Comfortable with public speaking
- Experience working with IT Productivity Management Tools, i.e., Confluence, Jira, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, Six Sigma (Value-Stream Mapping, Kanban, Pareto Charting, Process Mapping, RACI Matrix), etc.
- Curiosity in determining and understanding how things work
