Intern - SASE COE - Opportunity for Working Remotely Atlanta, GA

4.1

The Elevator Pitch: Why will you enjoy this new opportunity?

You’ll be a member of a small but mighty team of Architects and Software Developers working in the Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) Center of Excellence team. You be helping build Business Intelligence Dashboards, Tools, Reports, etc. for both Internal and External partners. We are a central hub for data projects, giving you a chance to work with many different business units. It is never boring, and we continue to learn new and better ways to look at our data and provide business intelligence to our partners. As part of this role, you’ll also learn a lot about Data Networking, SD-WAN and Security. It’s a great opportunity to grow your software development skills, while learning skills in networking and security.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the internship?

Help maintain and implement data projects while maintaining and improving code health.

You will become familiar with:

  • The VMware SASE product suite including SD-WAN and Security services
  • The CoE coding best practices
  • Writing Python and Python Testing Modules
  • Interacting with APIs and databases
  • Development in public clouds

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

We use python to pull data from our assets, transform and draw insights from the data, and store the data in a SQL Database. From there we use Python to bring new uses for our data to life, or BI tools like PowerBI or Tableau to share our data with our internal teams. We use Public Cloud infrastructure to host our projects, so you get experience in deploying and using Clouds such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

The hiring manager for this role is Tom Siracusa, Director of the SASE COE. His expertise is in network architecture for large enterprise customers. He also has a software development background. Adam Logan is the lead software developer that will be guiding you during your internship.

Both Tom and Adam’s management philosophy is about encouraging everyone on the team to be independent thinkers and not feel like they are being micromanaged, but at the same time providing support so you can grow and excel in the position. They both have a people first outlook – we strive to make this a great place to work. The team collaboration is excellent, despite the challenges Covid created.

The core team is global spanning the US, Canada, Europe, Asia and Latin America. The team works flexible hours, arranging schedules to fit their needs and the many time zones we support.

Where is this role located?

Remote: this role is fully remote and can be done anywhere in the United States. But if you happen to live in a location with a VMWare presence, you can go to the office once they open back up.
