What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a creative, highly motivated, and intellectually curious Graduate Intern that is interested in networking and automation to joing our dynamic team.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Rapidly prototype networking models and simulations, autonomous processes, and infrastructure solutions
- Automate networking/infrastructure workflows
- Engineer reliability through automated responses
- Research and design networking solutions by leveraging APIs, analytics, and autonomous control
- Drive standardization by performing requirements engineering and design
- Perform cybersecurity research and development in numerous facets of the enterprise network or server infrastructure
- Perform research and analysis of various security options
- Integrate heterogenous network environments
- Research unexplained network phenomena

Qualifications We Require
You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:
- Earned bachelor's degree
- Currently attending and enrolled full time in a related accredited graduate program
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
- Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
- U.S. citizenship
Qualifications We Desire
- Proven ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with the ability to have positive interactions with the team
- Working knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming methodologies in Python
- Practice with packet capture facilities such as tcpdump and wireshark
- Experience with Version Control systems like Git and Gitlab
- Familiarity with software development methodologies including CI/CD and GitFlow
- Basic understanding of network security concepts involving monitoring and access control
- Training or experience with automation frameworks such as Ansible, Nornir, Puppet, Chef, and SaltStack
- Extensive routing, switching and TCP/UDP processes knowledge
- Exposure to virtualization tools and frameworks like Docker, Kubernetes, and VMware
- CS/CE/EE/MATH or other information engineering related field of study.

Security Clearance
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
