Marketing & Communications Intern

This is a part-time, non-benefitted position. This intern position with the North Dakota Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (ND PTAC) will work with statewide staff to advance program efforts and output. The position is remote, but individual could work in Gamble Hall, Room 140 during regular business hours if preferred. We are seeking a candidate that can work with the program for both Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters, with the option for extension, depending on student status.

The ND PTAC is a resource for assisting North Dakota businesses in obtaining federal, state, and local government contracts. Our services also include training webinars as well as workshops around the state and an annual procurement event with one-on-one matchmaking opportunities. Our team assists large and small businesses as they navigate the government contracting learning curve. ND PTAC advisors work with businesses to identify government contracting opportunities by providing confidential, no cost, one-on-one counseling on how to obtain, manage and comply with contracting requirements for the Department of Defense (DoD) and other federal agencies, state & local governments and businesses with government prime contracts.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for general assistance to staff and clients which may include general assistance with SAM registration and background work in researching contracting opportunities
  • Assistance with PTAC and PTAC-related event coordination, logistics, outreach, and marketing
  • Support for social media and blog content
  • Assist with compiling client success stories
  • Basic SAM assistance
    • Login.gov account setup
    • Initial SAM setup and entry of DUNS (up to Core Data section)
    • Background work in researching contracting opportunities
  • Zoom setup for clients needing some extra help
  • Assist with database entries
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be willing and able to take initiative and learn unfamiliar programs
  • Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office and related business and communication tools as well as social media platforms
  • Social media and networking expertise

Minimum Requirements

  • Higher education student working towards a degree in a related field
  • Experience with computers: hardware and software (specifically with Adobe and Microsoft applications including Outlook), general office equipment such as printers, copiers, multi-line phone
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check

Preferred Requirements

  • Prior experience in a professional setting

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$12-13/hour DOE. This position is intended for a student not attending UND.

Work Schedule/Start Date

Up to 19 hours per week, exact schedule to be determined with selected candidate.
