You will be part of a global team of ~220 dedicated legal and compliance professionals who share a passion and enthusiasm to both understand and successfully navigate every aspect of VMware’s fast-growing business. The Legal team delivers world class legal services to our clients in a timely, efficient, and ethical manner and provides innovative and strategic solutions that actively contribute to the success of VMware.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

You will be involved in a wide range of government contracting and compliance matters and contributing to our ongoing mission to provide pragmatic, scalable solutions that inspire customer and employee trust.

As a member of the VMware Government, Education & Healthcare (GEH) Legal team, your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the GEH Legal team in reviewing and negotiating agreements with customers, partners, and subcontractors.
• Supporting the maintenance and improvement of VMware’s efforts to promote compliance with laws and regulations applicable to government contractors.
• Assisting the GEH Legal team in providing guidance, support and leadership on U.S. federal, state, and local government contracting laws and regulations .
• Collaborating with and supporting other lawyers with respect to the development and improvement of legal forms, agreements, policies, and processes in order to better support both business and legal requirements.
• Assisting with training and education to the Legal team, management and employees relating to government contracting and compliance, including key legal issues, laws and regulations, corporate policies, and other relevant matters.

You will work alongside team members with many years of practice both in law firm and in-house environments, each of whom has had unique and varied experiences in the career journeys.

This role is fully remote and can be performed anywhere in the US.

This position is available to currently enrolled Juris Doctorate-level students only, with a degree possession of May 2023 or later. The internship will be a 12-week, full-time commitment during Summer 2022.

Due to the Biden Administration issuing an Executive Order (EO) that effectively mandates COVID-19 vaccination for all U.S. based employees of federal contractors and subcontractors, all U.S. based VMware employees will be required to have their final vaccination dose (e.g., second dose of Pfizer or Moderna, or single dose of J&J) by January 4, 2022.
