Intern, Finance and Accounting Analyst

Northrop Grumman is seeking Finance and Accounting Analysts to join the Defense Systems Intern Program. This position will be located in Plymouth, MN.
The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Armament Systems Business Unit.
As a Finance and Accounting Analyst Intern your responsibilities will be to perform various tasks within the business unit’s financial planning/analysis and budgeting departments. You will work with a team environment to accomplish your objectives.
Specific responsibilities/experiences include, but are not limited to:
- Updates and maintains accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions
- Assists in the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial & operational reports data to ensure management has accurate and timely information to make decisions and meet business objectives
- Performs accounting system internal control self-assessments to ensure compliance
- Maintains financial files and records
- Conducts variance analysis on key financial metrics
- Assists with annual physical inventory of fixed assets
- Works on special projects. In past years, this has included reconciliation of production inventory accounts, enhancements to accounting software and others
Basic Qualifications
A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:
- Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2022
- Be majoring in Finance or Accounting
- Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts must be provided at time of application by uploading the documents to your application or profile)
- Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2022
- Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
- Experience or coursework in basic accounting knowledge of GAAP and transaction accounting
Preferred Qualifications
- 3.7 cumulative GPA or higher
- Previous internship/co-op experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular)
- Experience or coursework in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Project) and demonstrated ability to learn new applications
- Experience in working in an autonomous work environment on complex projects
- Experience in developing and delivering presentations and leading small groups
At Northrop Grumman, our internship pay rates are standardized and take into account three main factors: the anticipated graduation date of the individual, the cost of labor of the geographic location, and whether the internship is considered technical or administrative.
The pay ranges for this specific opportunity are as follows:
Undergraduate degrees (Including graduating students planning on attending/enrolled in a full-time Master’s program): $19.00 - $24.50
Masters degrees: $30.25 - $31.25
