Northrop Grumman is seeking Contract Closeout intern to join the Defense Systems Intern Program. This position will be located in McLean, VA.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems Sector Contract Organization.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Researching and analyzing contract information, including terms and conditions, and updating the Contract Closeout System (CCS) with current information.

  • Administratively closing contracts according to sector policies and procedures and working with closeout stakeholders, such as Contract Administrators, Subcontract Administrators, Program Managers and Program Control Analysts.

  • Working with different NGDS functional groups like Property, Security and Legal, by requesting the required closeout certifications.

  • Creating an inventory of contract records from various areas within the organization and updating SAP Workspace with that information.

  • Conducting research to support audit of final invoices, and requesting applicable files from Records Retention.

  • Supporting customer requests for closeout and updating CCS as needed.

  • Preparing patents reports as requested.

Basic Qualifications

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

  • Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2022

  • Be majoring in Business Management, or related discipline

  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts must be provided at time of application by uploading the documents to your application or profile)

  • Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2022


Preferred Qualifications

  • 3.7 cumulative GPA or higher

  • Previous internship/co-op experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular)

  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations and leading small groups

  • Experience in working in an autonomous work environment on complex projects.

At Northrop Grumman, our internship pay rates are standardized and take into account three main factors: the anticipated graduation date of the individual, the cost of labor of the geographic location, and whether the internship is considered technical or administrative.

The pay ranges for this specific opportunity are as follows:

  • Undergraduate degrees (Including graduating students planning on attending/enrolled in a full-time Master’s program): $18.00 - $23.25

  • Masters degrees: $28.75 - $29.75




Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
