Northrop Grumman is seeking Systems Engineering interns to join the Defense Systems Intern Program. This position will be located in Plymouth, MN.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s System Engineering and Integration & Test Team in the Armament Systems Division.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the test engineering function in the creation and release of a number of business items such as Master Test Plans (MTPs), Hardware Utilization Matrices (HUMs), Detailed Test Plans (DTPs), and Engineering Test Reports (ETRs) in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment utilizing the defined contract items as they relate to the verification/validation of the various program and project requirements
  • Supporting proper test engineering practices and procedures to ensure company work instructions and processes are followed
  • Supporting the engineering and design verification testing activities in coordination with other NGDS IPTs that may include external customer interface at times
  • Organize, plan, and develop the required documentation packages (including checklists) to support the various tests
  • Support Test Readiness Review (TRR) meetings prior to test execution and conduct
  • The intern may also travel to local off-site locations to support the various testing activities to ensure that the system requirements and program specifications are met.
  • Interfacing and coordinating with program managers, technical directors, design engineers, quality engineers, test technicians, and customers

Basic Qualifications

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

•Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2022•Be majoring in Systems, Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering•Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts must be provided at time of application by uploading the documents to your application or profile)•Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2022•Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)

Preferred Qualifications

•3.7 cumulative GPA or higher•Experience or coursework in various environmental testing methods and processes such as vibration, shock, thermal, waterproofing, etc.•Experience or coursework in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)•Previous internship/co-op experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular)•Experience in developing and delivering presentations and leading small groups•Experience in working in an autonomous work environment on complex projects

At Northrop Grumman, our internship pay rates are standardized and take into account three main factors: the anticipated graduation date of the individual, the cost of labor of the geographic location, and whether the internship is considered technical or administrative.

The pay ranges for this specific opportunity are as follows:

Undergraduate degrees (Including graduating students planning on attending/enrolled in a full-time Master’s program): $22.75 - $28.25
Masters degrees: $33.50 - 35.75
