What can a UI/UX Intern at Florida Blue expect?

As a member of the Digital Transformation Team at Florida Blue, you will work with a group of talented individuals in a highly team-oriented environment to design and develop the next generation of innovative solutions for Florida Blue members.

You will work closely with our Experience Design Director on a portfolio of innovation opportunities progressing through the validation and realization stages of our experience design process. You will have the opportunity to experience the implementation of real-world solutions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while supporting multiple opportunities evolving from early concept development through production ready build.


Key Responsibilities:

Design breakthrough digital experiences and innovative solutions and create actionable and effective paths for customers, ensuring site-wide consistency and providing a platform for future enhancements.

Design and specify user interfaces and information architecture using participatory and iterative design techniques.

Design with existing design system standards, best practices, and guidelines.

Collaborate with research leads to develop UX-driven concept testing strategies, including observational studies, customer interviews, usability testing, and other forms of user requirements discovery.

Produce user requirements specifications, personas, storyboards, scenarios, flowcharts, design prototypes, and design specifications.

Effectively communicate research findings, conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale both verbally and visually.

Build a deep understanding of user motivations, market opportunities and competition through research and design exploration.

Other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student and pursuing a master’s degree
  • Cumulative 3.0 or better GPA
  • Basic PC skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Currently enrolled as a senior pursuing a graduate degree in UX/UI design, graphic design, or related field.
  • Cumulative 3.5 or better GPA
  • Familiarity with designing UX/UI concepts across platforms (desktop, web, mobile and tablet)
  • Familiarity with design and prototyping tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe XD, Sketch, Axure, InVision or Figma
  • Familiarity with variety of user research methodologies and experience in designing cross platform.
  • Strong storytelling skills; outstanding communication (written and verbal), presentation, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • A self-starting, entrepreneurial attitude, willing to work through all obstacles to accomplish tasks.
  • A proven ability to juggle multiple projects on tight deadlines without compromising quality and take complete ownership over assigned tasks/projects.
  • Ability to prioritize and adhere to deadlines while managing multiple projects
  • Ability to conceptualize the opportunities/uses of new technology with the context of business and customer needs
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, changing business environment
  • Ability to think conceptually and analytically
  • Qualified candidates must include an online or PDF portfolio with their application.

General Physical Demands

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Jobs are sedentary if traversing activities are required only occasionally.
