The Jr. Product Manager is directly responsible for managing various product lines in a manner which contributes positively to the Company's bottom line. This position works with the Divisional Merchandise Manager to develop a comprehensive assortment strategy to meet the consumers needs. The Jr. Product Manager will work directly with outside vendors on developing exclusive product offerings and negotiating pricing. Additionally the Jr. Product Manager is responsible for maintaining appropriate inventory levels, accurately pricing products to be competitive with the market as well as monitoring corporate KPIs in an effort to drive profitability.

A day in the life of a Product Manager...

  • Develop and manage a strategic business plan for the life cycle of a product line
  • Purchase new inventory either by utilizing existing relationships or by establishing new relationships with vendors in the industry
  • Suggest for approval buy and sell prices for new and existing product lines
  • Update buy and sell prices on website. Verify posted buy prices are in alignment with current market prices and inventory position; ensure buy price provides necessary margins for profit goals and address any margin or other pricing issues that are found
  • Search for and research new items to sell; communicate product, quantity, and buy price to the Wholesale Purchasing Department for products wanted. If CCE posts need to be made for an item to be purchased, communicate post information to the Wholesale Purchasing Department
  • Develop and communicate clear concepts and plans to expand a product line
  • Turn in weekly recommendations to Site Merchandising for email promotions and banners advertisements to use on the Company website. Will require forecasting estimated unit sales and revenue
  • Check products/inventory out from Receiving to load onto the Company website or submit for grading
  • Review inventory out-of-stock reports, inventory depletions, and inventory low stock notices to ensure acceptable inventory levels are maintained; utilize sales and clearance categories to drawn down excess inventory where appropriate
  • Communicate hedge positions to hedge team on a daily basis
  • Review all daily and weekly reports to accurately manage product lines
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies

Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree required in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Merchandising or a related field

Experience:

  • 0-3 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of pricing strategies and profit margins is preferred
  • Prior experience in dealing with financial reporting is preferred (i.e. margin, sales, inventory)
  • Experience in retail, e-commerce, financial, or coin industries is preferred
  • Experience working cross functionally is preferred
  • Relevant past experience would include Assistant Merchandise Buyer, Merchandise Planner, Category Manager, Inventory Planner and other merchandising related fields

Computer Skills: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required. Intermediate skills with other Microsoft Office products
