Cleveland Clinic Investment Office Overview
The Cleveland Clinic Investment Office (CCIO) is stewarded by the Investment Committee of the Board of Directors. Guided by the Investment Policy Statement for each of the investment portfolios, CCIO invests across a globally diversified pool of asset classes and employs many of the world’s most successful investment managers for security selection of public and private equities, fixed income, absolute return strategies, real assets and derivative products.
CCIO is a values-driven organization. From its inception in 2015, the Investment Committee and senior leadership sought to create a division of the Cleveland Clinic whose foundation is excellence and innovation. CCIO is responsible for managing and growing the approximately $12 billion investment portfolio.
JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of their assigned supervisor, participate in a structured learning experience. Active participation in departmental individual or group projects. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: At a minimum, it is strongly preferred that students have successfully at least two semesters of a related (Finance, Business Administration, and/or Economics) undergraduate program. Current students majoring in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or Economics are ideal candidates.
Successful candidates will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Basic knowledge of corporate finance theory, economics, capital markets, risk management theory, asset allocation theory, investment management theory
- Excel modeling skills and portfolio optimization experience
- Self-disciplined and self-motivated
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and on a team
- Strong interest in markets and investments
The Opportunity available is:
Investment Office (Investments)
- Collect data and perform quantitative/qualitative research on investment managers, asset classes, and/or themes; present findings to team members in one-on-one or group settings.
- Assist with the drafting of investment recommendation memos under the supervision of Investment Office team members; participate in group discussions related to these recommendations.
- Attend meetings with investment managers and summarize key takeaways.
- Work with Investment Office team members on ad-hoc projects to improve processes and procedures across the office.

Education:
- Progress towards Bachelor’s degree with focus in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or Economics preferred
- Current college enrollment required
Certifications:
- None required.

Preferred Work Experience:
- Participation in investment-related student groups, finance/investment internships, or other related activities is desirable.
- Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills, decisive judgment and the ability to lead projects and people.

Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of body motion including handling/lifting items, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires frequent standing and sitting.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
