Overview:
The Corporate Development Associate – MBA Intern will provide support to PowerSchool’s Corporate Development M&A efforts. This role will work with the Corporate Development M&A team to evaluate and execute on strategic investments and acquisitions across the business. This individual will work cross-functionally within PowerSchool to identify strategic targets and manage the M&A pipeline, perform diligence on acquisition targets, drive analysis to support acquisition investment theses, and provide general decision support to PowerSchool’s Corporate Development and Executive Leadership Teams.
Responsibilities:
- Support of active diligence for M&A transactions, including but not limited to data room management, coordination of diligence calls with internal and external parties, and development of presentation materials for investment committee
- Assist in financial modeling efforts to support transactions including working cross-functionally to develop driving assumptions for M&A operating models
- Leverage M&A CRM platform to develop and maintain a deal pipeline and database for all of PowerSchool’s M&A activity
- Assis the team in regular reporting and dashboarding on M&A efforts and effectiveness
- Assist in M&A strategy development including driving internal collaboration and analyses to identify and prioritize acquisition targets and adjacencies
- Developing ad-hoc analyses to provide M&A decision support to Executive and Corporate Development Leadership
- Other duties as assigned
- 2+ years of experience in Corporate Development, Private Equity, and/or Investment Banking and currently enrolled in an MBA program
- Strong project management skills, ideally with experience managing investment/M&A diligence processes
- Experience in creating, adjusting, and maintaining M&A financial models
- Excellent technical skills with expert-level aptitude in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Immaculate attention to detail
- Ability to summarize and draw business insights from raw data
- Strong communications skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal) required
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly assess a situation and react with proposed solutions based on analysis of all factors
- Enterprise software and/or K-12 domain experience preferred, but not required
