Overview:
Position Summary:
This role is a junior analyst position that will support BAS’s activities in the New York office. The analyst will work as an integral member of the BAS team in NY, preparing portfolio analyses for its bank and investor client base, financial market research/surveillance, and ad-hoc inquiries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reviewing, evaluating, and cracking specific components of loan tapes provided by clients.
  • Preparing loan tape information for input into Bayview’s various models.
  • Preparing various Excel-based analyses at the direction of the supervisor.
  • Formatting text and tables for inclusion in client reports or other presentations.
  • Reviewing and reporting on various market research topics as needed by the team to support client requirements.
  • Manage requests for intraday and prioritize ad-hoc inquiries.
  • Manage initiatives to resolve, improve, and enhance the current process for further efficiency as needed.
  • Other duties as needed or required.

Skills/Knowledge/Requirements:
  • The Candidate must be highly analytical with exceptional math skills.
  • Highly articulate and organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills are required.
  • Strong communication skills will be required – both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with CAS is a plus, but not required.
  • Basic working knowledge of mortgages, credit, and cash flow modeling would be helpful, but is not required.
  • Basic to Mid-level on SQL and VBA language would be a plus.
Education/Experience Requirements:
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of work experience in financial institutions, accounting firms, rating agencies, or IT information systems.
  • BA/BS or higher degree in math, finance, accounting, or other related field required.
  • The primary location will be at BAS’s office in midtown Manhattan. Occasional short-term trips to head office on Coral Gables will be required. Hours will be determined by workload, with frequent late nights and occasional weekend work required.
