Duties:
Troubleshoot

  • Actively troubleshoot any issues that arise impacting the database environments
  • Ability to monitor databases and analyze error logs
  • Analyze queries and advice on efficiency and improvements
  • Identify and resolve database locks and lack of statistics
  • Resolve data structure issues (Invalid objects, tables, partitions, constraints)
  • Deploy patches as required over the database environments
  • Resolve Import/export data pump issues
Document

  • Document service requests, changes, and incidents
  • Create and maintain SOP's and run books
Collaborate

  • Collaborating with dbas, developers, vendors, and professional organizations to deliver quality service
  • Occasionally working after hours and weekends as emergencies, deployments
  • Performing as subject matter expert for database implementations
  • Supporting internal and external customers, corporate IT, and vendor IT providing a high level of service and pushing projects to completion
Automate

  • Automate operational processes as needed, with accuracy and in compliance with our security requirements
Innovate

  • Implement, optimize, and support highly scalable, highly available production infrastructure for different RDBMS (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
  • Update our processes and design new processes as needed
  • Developing and implementing strategies for database administration
  • Developing solutions for monitoring and support database platforms
  • R & D – Stay abreast of new technology
Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen.

Highly motivated individual contributor and team player who can work independently and contribute to the operational maturity of the team.

Creative problem-solving skills that require minimum supervisory prompting.

Ownership of tasks and projects with 100% follow through to completion.

Experience

  • Oracle DBA with a minimum 3-5 years of experience supporting Oracle databases for Very large environments.
  • Exposure to Oracle version 11G Onwards.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and supporting Oracle on Linux and Windows environment.
  • Experience with Oracle multitenant configurations.
  • Experience using Oracle Data pump (Must).
  • Experience using Oracle Partitioning (Desirable).
  • Experience with compression and data transfer mechanisms (SFTP/FTP/TAR/GZIP).
  • Experience with Oracle RMAN and Oracle Enterprise Manager (Desirable).
  • Experience with Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Gard (Desirable).
  • Experience with Oracle Golden Gate (A plus).
  • Experience with AWS (RDS instances, EC2 Instances, S3 Buckets) (Desirable).
  • Performance and tuning experience (Tools: ADDM/AWR and Oracle advisors).
  • Exposure to different database admin tools like TOAD/ SQLPLUS/ PL/SQL Developer and open to work with new tools.
  • Experience with scripting and automation (Shell/Bash/PowerShell/PL/SQL/SQL/DBMS Jobs).
Technologies

  • Demonstrated experience with multiple RDBMS (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL server)
  • Solid experience administering Oracle 12.1c and 19c databases
  • Exposure to SQL Server 2019
  • Exposure to PostgreSQL: 10+ and Aurora
  • Cloud Service providers: AWS, OCI
  • Experience using database tools for Cloud and On-premises environments: Enterprise Manager, Cloud Watch, Enhanced Monitoring, Performance insights, Toad, Oracle SQL Developer, Squirrel
  • Experience using OS compression tools: Tar, zip, bzip2
  • Oracle features: Partitioning, Compression, Tunning
  • Support portals: MOS and AWS support
  • Backup and recovery tools: Data Pump/RMAN
  • Preferred experience with Linux-based infrastructures, Linux/Unix administration, and AWS
  • Experience with languages such as Shell, Bash, SQL, PL/SQL, and Transact SQL
