Security Software Engineer Intern

Location: Remote, U.S.

Summary:

As a Security Software Engineer Intern with the Global Security SIEM team, you assist in the management and enhancement of SAP’s global log monitoring and incident alerting solution.

The Role:

SAP Global Security Cyber Defense and Design SIEM team provides SAP’s central log monitoring and security incident alerting solution.

As a Security Software Engineer Intern with SAP’s Global Security SIEM team, you’ll get to work on cutting-edge cybersecurity monitoring solutions, see them deployed in a large environment, and help in its management, enhancement, and automation.

Your opportunities may include:

  • Creating simple and intuitive web applications
  • Designing, developing, and deploying integrated solutions
  • Contributing to frontend and backend development for applications that support security for various teams within SAP
  • Designing, building, and maintaining APIs and microservices
  • Developing tools to identify potential threats and/or malicious activity
  • Identifying and remediating vulnerable systems
  • Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders on projects

Required:

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or relevant technical field experience
  • Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new situations
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience in Node.js, Python, Java, or C/C++
  • Understanding of data structures, basic algorithms, and design patterns
  • Understanding of backend, microservices, and/or distributed systems
  • Understanding of common application/network attacks and preventative measures
