Knowledge Management Summer Internship
Duration: June 6 - August 19, 2022
Due to the complexity of the COVID-19 pandemic, this internship will likely be entirely remote, depending on PSCU's onsite business practices by Summer 2022, there is a chance that we may host onsite meetings or events in St. Petersburg, FL

L&OD – Knowledge Management
The Knowledge Management team is in the PSCU Learning and Org Development business unit focused on turning knowledge into action. The team consists of 2 work groups, each with a specific mission:
Technical Writing – work with business contacts to analyze, inventory and codify critical knowledge assets into a consumable and sustainable format that can easily be integrated into multiple knowledge repositories and maintained, through predefined governance, by the client organization.
Knowledge Integration – partner with ITS and other key collaborator groups to architect knowledge repositories, including information architecture, user experience, taxonomy, and navigation/page design.
Knowledge Management Internship Goals and Objectives
The primary intent of the intern’s project is to help PSCU implement Knowledge Centered Service (KCS). The Knowledge Management team partners with teams across the enterprise to prepare knowledge assets for integration into the Enterprise Knowledge Management System (ServiceNow). Each business unit has been tasked with documenting and sharing their key procedures into a shared library. In 2022, the KM team is introducing a new way to actively manage knowledge assets, which at its simplest form is described as “every content consumer is a potential content creator.”
The intern, under the direction of the KM Manager and an assigned mentor, will use technical writing fundamentals to collaborate with key collaborators in assigned business units to train, coach, and demonstrate KCS principles to front line leaders and employees. In addition, there will be multiple opportunities to participate in other KM initiatives based on availability and interest.
Key Benchmarks:
- Discovery: Complete ServiceNow’s Knowledge Management and KCS online learning as well as PSCU’s Service Portal KM Creator course in the Learning Portal. Attend a leader-led learning session on KCS implementation. Upon completion, the intern will be assigned to a KCS project under way.
- Determine: Assess existing workflows using knowledge mapping and review analytics to assess opportunities for knowledge optimization.
- Develop: Working with the mentor, the intern will engage with front line employees and their leadership to put KCS in place for creating, editing, and optimizing internal facing and client facing self-help. Assess the applicability for automation and digital agent implementation. OUTPUT: Engagement plan (using template).
- Transition: Document lessons learned, key collaborators, and any innovations gained in the project that can help other projects improve service. OUTPUT: lessons learned report.

You’ll also gain insight into our rich history, our unique culture, and our committed social conscience.
Over the course of this 10-week program, it is PSCU's goal to provide our interns not only with a real job experience that better prepares future graduates for their chosen profession, but to provide them the knowledge and experience vital to navigate a business environment.
In our program, interns will engage with a group of their peers in acquiring a knowledge foundation in Credit Unions, the financial industry, Six Sigma, preparing for a job search, presentation skills, and more. You will also be given opportunities to network directly with industry leaders at PSCU.
PSCU Intern Program Entry Qualifications
- Completion of sophomore or junior year in an accredited undergraduate degree program with a 3.0/4.0 GPA at time of application.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to coordinate thoughts, communicate, completely, and concisely.
- Strong, organizational, and detail skills, with the ability to consistently perform as business requests.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to adjust easily when directions and priorities change on short notice.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite® with a heavy emphasis on Excel.
- Proficiency in software that applies to your major and function-specific internship.
- Passion for learning the Credit Union Industry.

Knowledge Management Internship Requirements
- Familiarity with the following tools and skills are highly desirable: technical writing fundamentals, and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) fundamentals
- Familiarity with general business knowledge, organizational behavior courses, and/or leadership involvement in extracurricular activities
- Familiarity with Chicago, Associated Press, Microsoft, or Yahoo writing style guides
- Ability to contribute and lead within a team environment
