The Enterprise Data & Analytics team is a new team tasked with implementing an enterprise-wide strategy to maximize the value of data and analytics in support of PSEG's mission (safely providing reliable, affordable and green energy), while protecting data privacy and security. As part of this objective, the team's goal is to make it easier for PSEG employees to access, visualize, and analyze data.

Job Responsibilities

intern position will assist the team in creating data visualization reports and other business intelligence analytical use cases. Assignments will include creating or perfecting data visualization and/or analysis reports, including understanding user requirements, understanding the underlying business processes, identifying, acquiring, and understanding the source data, performing any required analysis, and creating powerful user-friendly reports. Other assignments may include assisting with the implementation of tools and processes for data governance and data management. More broadly, this internship assignment will provide an opportunity to gain insights into the high-profile world of data visualization, data analytics, "Big Data" and the "Internet of Things."

Location: PSEG's general office in Newark. Candidates may be allowed to work remotely at least part of the time if they can demonstrate they have a quiet set-up conducive to productive work.


Job Specific Qualifications

  • Required qualifications:
    • Being fully vaccinated against Covid-19
    • Ability to demonstrate quantitative analytical abilities through prior school projects, internships, or employment
    • Experience with Microsoft Power BI and Excel applications
    • Strong attention to detail
    • A passion for data and analysis, and for creating professional work output products
    • Ability to communicate and work with subject matter experts (owners of the data, users of visualization/analysis reports) to understand the business context and user requirements

    Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
    • Candidates on track to earn a Bachelor's Degree by June 2023
    • GPA of 3.0 or above
    • Certification in Power BI, Excel, Access, or Tableau applications
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint applications
    • Experience with coding (e.g., Python, R, or SQL)
    • Experience with data aquisition techniques (e.g., SQL queries, APIs)
    • Familiarity with statistical concepts


All PSEG internship roles are paid at an hourly rate, however there are no benefits associated with these positions. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week over the summer period and as business needs warrant. We are targeting: Currently enrolled students (must be enrolled at the commencement of the internship program) Housing, transportation, immigration support will not be provided in association with these positions.
