GSE Systems, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to assist with the development, testing, configuration and deployment of advanced, state-of-the-art software applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing, modifying, and testing software applications in the engineering and education field (including web and server-based applications)
• Conduct Proof-Of-Concept research and studies on improving engineering software systems development and delivery.
• Organize and creatively automate tasks to improve internal delivery operations
• Work independently as well as within the team to accomplish tasks
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Enrolled in a BS or MS academic program in Computer Science, Engineering or related area
• Demonstrated programming ability in any of the following: Java/JavaScript, C/C++, or C#/.NET
• Self-motivated, highly organized, with great attention to detail to perform tasks
• Willingness to learn quickly and to step outside of assigned role to help the project or team
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Interest in learning new tools in a highly technical engineering environment

The following would be pluses:

• Familiarity with web application platforms like node.js and Angular2+
• Database skills (e.g., using SQL or working with No SQL databases)
• Knowledge of AWS
• Familiarity with scripting in Linux and Windows environments
