Summary
The Academic Innovations Department is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of all academic courses delivered in online, hybrid, blended and face-to-face environments. Our team works directly with subject matter experts, faculty, and adjuncts to provide turnkey design solutions utilizing a variety of technology platforms. The junior multimedia designer would be part of a dynamic design team responsible for the conceptualization, processes, and production of audio, video, animations, and interactive multimedia training and learning objects for a variety of audiences, platforms, and outcomes. They would also be involved in the maintenance of Intranet environments and media servers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, develop and implement digital instructional materials (e.g., graphics, animations, multimedia presentations, interactive elements, streaming media, simulations, audio, and video, etc.) using content authoring and management tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Camtasia Studio, Canvas, HTML5, SCORM, etc.).
- Align all work with the university brand guide and establish a design framework that creates a cohesive experience across platforms.
- Provide initial conception (storyboarding, etc.) and estimates for media development, including planning, content, production level and platforms, turnaround time, corrections, approvals and project estimates.
- Develop layout and concept designs and maintain documentation for each project, including approvals, comments, drafts, and artwork.
- Perform usability testing and quality assurance of media elements used across platforms to ensure media is accessible for all users.
- Leverage analytics to determine the effectiveness of activities and make continual improvements.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors or Associates degree with relevant work experience in multimedia design, graphic design, digital design, web design, media arts, or related degree
- Knowledge of and experience with instructional technology applications
- Knowledge of multimedia authoring tools and Web-development software
