Summer Events Team Lead
Summer Events Team Lead are the backbone of the Waterford Upstart program graduation and orientations! You'll be responsible for supporting a team of Summer Events Associates as they travel across the United States hosting parent trainings and graduation events. You will interact face-to-face celebrating the accomplishments of participants that have just finished Waterford Upstart and train new participants about how to use the program!
Waterford Upstart provides four-year-old children access to the highest form of academic support in their early education at no cost to participants. Waterford Upstart offers personalized education and coaching, a new computer and internet if needed, and adaptive education software. Team Leads are an important part of helping us achieve our organizational mission.
Summer is one of our busiest time of year for events. You can expect frequent travel with several overnights and 40+ hours work weeks. With the number of events we host we are extremely limited in the time off requests we are able to approve.
If you are a driven, detailed, encouraging individual with a passion for non-profit, early literacy, and education this is a phenomenal opportunity for you to consider. We are looking for leaders to work:
- May 23 - November 19
- May 23 - August 27
- August 22 - November 19.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership for the outcome of all assigned events
- Lead and mentor assigned team members
- Check participants in at events and update account information
- Host graduation sessions
- Present training material
- Complete digital early literacy assessment
- Maintain positive and professional interactions with parents, children, vendors and colleagues
- Support travel plans and follow trip itineraries
- Track attendance and travel expenses
- Enforce event policies and procedures
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years customer service, events or similar experience
- 1+ years leadership experience
- Excellent communication skills, including with young children
- Confident, personable, and excellent public speaking/presentation skills
- Proactive, diligent to details, and ability to follow complex processes, including use of computers
- Fluent in Spanish a plus
- Willing to work long hours, including late nights and Saturdays
Pay for this position starts at $15 per hour. Often our summer program is staffed with college students. Several of those students have worked with their University to receive college internship credit for their work with Waterford.org.
